BUTUAN City––Former Vice President Teofisto Guingona Jr. and his senator-son and namesake have called on Butuanons and other citizens across Caraga to ensure the victory of all senatorial candidates from Mindanao in next year’s elections.
Speaking during the unveiling rites for the Guingona Park here Thursday, the Guingonas said they have started the campaign to ensure the Mindanao would have more representatives in the Senate starting in 2013.
“At the moment, there are only two of us in the Senate. It’s like what happened during the time of my father in the Senate. We really need more representatives from Mindanao in the Senate to advance our cause for a more progressive Mindanao,” said Sen. Teofisto Guingona III.
He also expressed sadness over the rift between Sen. Aquilino Martin Pimentel III and ex-senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.
Tulo unta mi sa Senado,” the younger Guingona said.
