GINGOOG City––A lone gunman on a motorcycle shot and killed the chairman of Barangay 26, this city, yesterday morning.
Police said the victim, Hugo Cabriole, was shot in the head at close range with a caliber .45 pistol while he was refueling his motorcyce at a Petron gas station at around 9:15 am.
“Akong nakit an ang suspect nanaug sa iyang motor ug mibunot sa pistula, mipusil sa biktima ug dayon iya gibalik ug plastar ang pistula sa iyang hawak dayon balik sakay sa motor ug hinay pa ang padagan,” a witness said.
The gunman reportedly fled toward the direction of Medina town, Misamis Oriental.
Police secured the gas station owned by the Soriano family and its workers were reportedly told by Supt. Jun Mark Lagare not to give statements to the media.
Provincial board member Jeremy Pelaez has asked the police to speed up the investigation to to identify and arrest the killer.
