Singing of Diel’s song now a must in Misor

By Rey Zaldy Serna

THE provincial board has unanimously passed a measure that makes it compulsory for a song written by a former governor to be regularly sung in all schools and government offices in the province.

The song “Misamis Oriental March” was written by the late governor Concordio Diel. The melody was provided by Priscilla Salcedo and it was rearranged by Jimmy Ocampo.

Ordinance No. 1277-2013 makes the song the official Misamis Oriental Hymn. It was authored by provincial board member Heckert Emano.

The song lyrics:

“Sa amihanang dapit, ning yutang Mindanao

“May Kawha’ng tulo ka lungsod, duha ka dakbayan

“Siyudad sa Gingoog, siyudad sa El Salvador (updated)

“Mao ang lalawigan

“Sa imong sabakan, natawo ang katawhan,

“Dungganan nga bantuganug daghan kugihan,

“Ang imong kabukiran, patag ug lapyahan, kini among ampingan

“Misamis Oriental, ang lalawigan

“Misamis Oriental, ikaw ang mahal

“Ang yuta sa among ginikanan

“Kang Bathala na Bulahan

“Kang Bathala na Bulahan.”

The provincial board tasked the capitol’s tourism office to see to it that the ordinance is implemented.

Wala man ma mention ang siyudad sa cagayan, nga mao unta ang capital city sa mis or! Perhap there a need to consider a slight revision and thorough review prior to its implementation.
