PROSECUTORS and appellate court justices will join over a thousand people for a “Run for Justice” here on Sunday morning.
Expected to sweat it out with the runners is Prosecutor General Claro Arellano from the justice department in Manila, and some justices from the Court of Appeals here.
Regional State Prosecutor Jaime Umpa said Arellano will be coming over to participate in the fun run.
Arellano’s presence will bolster the impact of first-ever fund-raising activity that the Prosecutors’ League of the Philippines (PLP) has initiated under the leadership of Umpa, who was elected as the PLP’s president last April this year.
About 1,800 participants have already registered, exceeding the targeted 1,500 runners who will compete in the 3K, 5K and 10K categories. Cash prizes and raffle items will be given on the race day.
The Kiosko Kagawasan in Divisoria area will serve as the run’s starting and finishing points.
Aside from the prosecutors, the fun run is open to other members of the pillars of the justice system such as law enforcers, lawyers, judges, court workers, and the community.
The proceeds of the fund-raiser will be used as medical assistance for the prosecutors all over the country, Umpa said.
